Kirk Maples of San Jose, California was inspired by a piece of artwork with beautiful architecture for his home remodel. Pella and Restoration Builders, Inc. were able to help replicate the windows in Maples’ painting for the new windows in his home.

Maples has been collecting art work for over 20 years. He started his art collection while living in New Mexico and collected additional pieces throughout the years.  Maples conducts research for a pharmaceutical company and has traveled around the western part of the country for work.

“I have a lot of art in my home and wanted to bring the Southwest or the ‘land of enchantment’ with me,” said Maples. “I also did research in Hawaii where I picked up ocean inspired work.”

Maples and his family moved into a home on a street they liked in San Jose a couple years ago. They originally wanted another home on the street, but it wasn’t for sale at the time. As result of a work promotion and the home going back on the market, Maples and his wife were able to purchase the home.

The home, according to Maples, was outdated and needed to be remodeled. Maples said he knew Pella as a quality window and door company and he wanted Pella products in his new home. He also wanted a contractor who knew how to install Pella products. After researching companies in the area, he came across Restoration Builders, Inc.

“I wanted a construction company that was integrated with Pella and knew what they were doing,” said Maples. “I searched online and found Jon Koski with Restoration Builders.”

Maples wanted to replicate the windows in one of his favorite art pieces “Music Pier” by Artist Edward Gordon for his home remodel.

The local Pella representative first noticed Maples’ artwork during the in-home appointment. The rep informed the homeowner that Pella had grid and interior finish options that matched the windows in his painting.

The artist, Gordon, was inspired to create the painting, “Music Pier”, from the architecture of the Ocean City, New Jersey Music Pier.

Gordon is known for paying special attention to lighting and shadowing, giving his paintings a life-like quality.

Maples described the feeling of contentment while looking at “Music Pier”.

“When I look at this painting, I feel like I am there in the moment,” said Maples.

Maples said that both his Pella windows and the craftsmanship from RBI are what really made the painting a reality. He said that the carpenters did a wonderful job with the transformation.

“The old metal rectangle windows never did much for me,” said Maples. “The carpentry job by Darren and Ricardo was seamless.”

Maples said that he is excited about his new view and the outcome of his remodel.

“When I look outside my house, I feel like I could be anywhere,” said Maples. “I now have gorgeous arch topped windows. It really transformed my space from inside, out.”
